How it works
Protecting your hearing doesn’t have to be complicated. At Elacin Australia, we’ve made it simple to find the right earplugs for sleep, swimming, motorcycle riding, work, music and everyday life – and to start using them with confidence.
Here’s how it all works, from choosing your earplugs to enjoying the quiet.
1. Choose the right earplugs for you
Start by thinking about where you need hearing protection most:
- Sleep – block out snoring and night noise so you can rest.
- Swim & surf – keep water out while you stay in the ocean or pool.
- Motorcycle – reduce wind and engine noise while staying alert to the road.
- Work – protect your hearing on noisy job sites or in workshops.
- Music & concerts – lower the volume while keeping sound quality.
- Hobbies & DIY – mowing, tools, travel, events and more.
We offer two main types of earplugs:
- Ready‑to‑ship earplugs – standard sizes with carefully selected filters and materials for common situations. Great if you want something quickly or are trying earplugs for the first time.
- Custom earplugs – made specifically for your ears for maximum comfort and long‑term protection. Ideal if you use earplugs regularly.
Product descriptions explain:
- Who each option is best for.
- How strong the protection is.
- How they feel to wear in everyday life.

2. Order online in a few clicks
Once you’ve found the right earplugs:
- Choose your preferred style or pack size (and custom option if needed).
- Add them to your cart.
- Checkout securely using your preferred payment option.
You’ll receive an order confirmation email straight away.
If you’ve ordered custom earplugs, we’ll then guide you through booking an appointment for your ear impressions (see Step 3).
3. Production, ear impressions & delivery
How long it takes depends on what you’ve ordered.
For ready‑to‑ship earplugs
We pack and send these as quickly as possible.
- Once your order has been dispatched, you’ll receive a shipping confirmation email (with tracking, if applicable) so you can follow your delivery.
- Your earplugs arrive ready to use, with basic instructions included.
For custom earplugs – how ear impressions work
Custom earplugs are made especially for your ears and require ear impressions taken by an audiologist. We’ve made this process simple:
-
Place your order online
Choose your custom earplugs and complete checkout as normal. -
Receive your booking form
After your order is confirmed, we’ll email you a short booking form to confirm your details and preferred location. -
We arrange an appointment near you
Our team uses your booking form to organise an appointment at a suitable audiologist near you for your ear impressions. We’ll confirm the clinic details, time and any costs upfront so you know exactly what to expect. -
Your impressions are taken and sent to us
At your appointment, the audiologist will take your ear impressions.
They will either send them directly to us, or provide them to you with clear instructions on how to return them. -
We craft your custom earplugs
Once we receive your ear impressions, your custom earplugs typically take around 2–3 weeks to manufacture.
We’ll keep you updated along the way and email you as soon as they’re on their way to you.
When your order ships, you’ll receive a shipping confirmation email (with tracking, if applicable) so you know exactly when to expect your new earplugs.
4. Receiving your earplugs
When your earplugs arrive:
- Ready‑to‑ship earplugs come with simple instructions and, where applicable, different tip sizes to help you find a comfortable seal.
- Custom earplugs arrive labelled for each ear and made to fit your ear canal and concha shape precisely.
Take a few moments to read the instructions and get used to the insertion and removal technique – it quickly becomes second nature.
If you have any concerns when you first try your earplugs, you’re always welcome to email us at customerservice@elacin.com.au.
5. Getting used to the sound & feel
Wearing good hearing protection is a different experience to not wearing any – and that’s a good thing.
You can expect:
- Reduced overall volume, especially for harsh or damaging noise.
- Clear speech and environmental sounds, especially with our filtered earplugs that are designed to reduce harmful noise while keeping sound natural.
- A short adjustment period, particularly if you’ve never worn earplugs before.
We recommend:
- Starting by wearing your earplugs for shorter periods (for example, during one concert, one ride or a few nights of sleep).
- Gradually increasing use as they become part of your routine.
Over time, this simple habit can significantly reduce your risk of long‑term hearing damage in noisy environments.
6. Long‑term use, care & fit
With normal use and care, custom earplugs can last for several years, making them a cost‑effective option if you use earplugs regularly.
To look after your earplugs:
- Clean them gently with a soft cloth and recommended cleaning products.
- Allow them to dry thoroughly before storing.
- Keep them in their case when not in use, away from extreme heat.
If you’re not happy with the fit when you first receive your custom earplugs, please contact us at customerservice@elacin.com.au as soon as possible so we can help. We’ll work with you and your audiologist to troubleshoot any issues and discuss options for adjustments or remakes in line with our policies.
