Frequently Asked Questions

1. Ordering & Shipping

Q: How do I place an order?
A: Simply browse our collections, choose the earplugs that suit your needs (sleep, swim & surf, motorcycle, work, music or everyday), select your options and add them to cart. Then checkout securely using your preferred payment method. You’ll receive an order confirmation email once it’s done.

Q: Do you ship across Australia?
A: Yes, we ship Australia‑wide. Shipping options and prices are shown at checkout based on your location.

Q: How long does delivery take?
A: For ready‑to‑ship earplugs, orders are typically dispatched as quickly as possible. Delivery times depend on your location and the shipping method selected at checkout. You’ll receive a shipping confirmation email (with tracking if available) once your order is on the way.

2. Custom Earplugs

Q: What are custom earplugs?
A: Custom earplugs are made specifically to fit your ears. They offer excellent comfort, a secure fit and consistent hearing protection, especially for regular use at work, on the bike, in the water or for music.

Q: How long do custom earplugs take?
A: Custom plugs typically take 2–3 weeks for production from the time we receive your ear impressions / required details. After they’re made, they’re shipped to you, and we’ll email you with tracking information.

Q: Why do custom earplugs take longer than standard ones?
A: Each custom pair is individually made to match your ear shape. This involves extra steps in taking impressions, manufacturing and quality checks, which is why they take longer than ready‑to‑ship products.

3. Choosing the Right Earplugs

Q: Which earplugs are best for sleeping?
A: Look for our sleep earplugs. They’re designed to help reduce snoring and night‑time noise while remaining comfortable enough to wear all night.

Q: Which earplugs should I use for swimming or surfing?
A: Our swim & surf earplugs are made to keep water out of your ears while you’re in the ocean or pool, helping protect against irritation and infections.

Q: I ride a motorcycle – what do I need?
A: Our motorcycle earplugs are designed to reduce wind and engine noise while still letting you hear important sounds like traffic and sirens, so you stay alert and safe.

Q: What’s best for work or noisy job sites?
A: Check our work / industrial range. These earplugs are built for regular use in loud environments, focusing on comfort, durability and reliable protection.

Q: Do you have earplugs for concerts and musicians?
A: Yes. Our music earplugs are designed to reduce volume while preserving sound quality, so you can still enjoy music clearly while protecting your hearing.

Q: I’m not sure which earplugs to choose – can you help?
A: Absolutely. Email us at customerservice@elacin.com.au with how and where you’ll be using your earplugs (sleep, surf, bike, work, music, etc.) and we’ll recommend suitable options.

4. Fit & Comfort

Q: How should earplugs feel when they’re in properly?
A: They should feel snug and secure, without pain or strong pressure. You should notice a clear reduction in noise, but not feel like your ears are being “blocked” or hurt.

Q: My earplugs feel uncomfortable – is that normal?
A: Some people need a few uses to get used to wearing earplugs, but they should never be painful. Try adjusting how you insert them, and make sure you’re using the correct size or style. If they continue to feel uncomfortable, get in touch and we can help.

Q: Will earplugs completely block all sound?
A: No. Most earplugs are designed to reduce noise to a safer and more comfortable level, not to create total silence. You’ll usually still hear some sounds like voices or alarms, just at a lower volume.

5. Safety & Hearing Health

Q: Are earplugs safe to use every day?
A: When used and cleaned correctly, earplugs are generally safe for daily use. Follow the instructions provided, keep them clean and dry, and don’t push them too deeply into your ear canal.

Q: Can earplugs prevent hearing loss and tinnitus?
A: Earplugs help reduce noise exposure, which is a key step in preventing noise‑induced hearing damage and tinnitus (ringing in the ears). They’re not a medical treatment, but they are an important way to protect your hearing in loud environments.

Q: Do you give medical advice?
A: No. We’re here to help you choose hearing protection products, but we can’t provide medical advice. If you have concerns about your hearing or ear health, please speak with a qualified audiologist or healthcare professional.

6. Care & Maintenance

Q: How do I clean my earplugs?
A: Follow the cleaning instructions that come with your specific product. In general, many reusable earplugs can be gently cleaned and dried before storing them. Always make sure they are completely dry before putting them back in your ears.

Q: How long do earplugs last?
A: It depends on the type and how often you use them. Disposable earplugs are usually for single or short‑term use, while reusable and custom earplugs can last much longer with proper care. Replace them if they become worn, damaged or don’t fit as well as they used to.

Q: How should I store my earplugs?
A: Store them in a clean, dry case away from extreme heat or moisture. This keeps them hygienic and helps them last longer.

7. Returns & Exchanges

Q: What is your return policy?
A: Please refer to our official Returns/Refunds policy page for full details. As a general rule, due to hygiene reasons, used earplugs usually can’t be returned, but we’ll always do our best to help if there’s an issue with your order.

Q: Can I return custom earplugs?
A: Custom earplugs are made specifically for you, so they typically can’t be returned or exchanged unless there is a manufacturing issue. If you have a concern with your custom order, please contact us and we’ll work through it with you.
